The Oncology Clinic of the University of Debrecen is celebrating its 25th anniversary
On the occasion, an anniversary celebration and a scientific conference were held for representatives of the profession on November 28, 2025.
“The city and the University of Debrecen always think in terms of teamwork, which is why they jointly created a health plan and a prevention program for the people of Debrecen. Within the framework of this, they work closely with the specialists of the Oncology Clinic as well,” explained Deputy Mayor Diána Széles.
The scientific meeting discussed, among other things, the development of treatment options and the challenges of the future. According to the experts, oncology is one of the fastest developing fields, where the most innovations appear. Artificial intelligence has already been involved in the work at the Debrecen Clinical Center: it helps determine an early, accurate diagnosis, analyzes findings, and is able to detect even subtle changes.
“New opportunities and innovative techniques are constantly emerging, making patient recovery increasingly successful. According to statistical data, we have now reached the point where about two‑thirds of diagnosed patients can expect complete recovery,” said Péter Árkosy, Director of the Oncology Clinic at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen.
