A minor fire occurred at the BMW plant in Debrecen

On September 30, a minor fire occurred at the BMW Group Plant in Debrecen. As soon as the municipality became aware of the incident, thy contacted the BMW plant and the disaster management.

Based on information from the disaster management, firefighters went to the scene, but no intervention was necessary because the facility fire department eliminated the problem in a few minutes. The plant’s fire protection system intervened effectively. No personal injuries occurred.

The event had no impact on the environment. The Municipality of Debrecen checked the data of the continuously available Environmental Monitoring System, and the measuring stations around the plant did not show any deviations from the general ones. The safety regulations related to the operation of the plant must be adhered to to the highest degree during design, construction, and operation. The current case proves that the plant’s security system worked well; they were able to fix the problem in a few minutes.

The safety of Debrecen’s residents is top priority; therefore, the municipality, in cooperation with the government office, will continue to strictly enforce the regulations required for the operation of factories.
