A new road is being built in the Southern Economic Zone

The first phase of the so-called Western Boundary Road in the Southern Economic Zone is already under construction.

The new road will enter the industrial zone from Main Road 481, also known as the Southern Bypass, which connects the M35 motorway and Main Road  47, along the line of the Inpark hall.

The new road section will have 2×2 traffic lanes, a priority kerb and parallel pedestrian and cycle paths, asphalt pavement and underground utilities (drinking water, storm water, waste water, communications, street lighting, medium voltage lines, gas mains), with a completion date of the second quarter of 2025.

The works will also include the construction of a stormwater drainage system on the road, connected to the Tócó Canal and the so-called Sanitary Canal.

The first phase of the Western Boundary Road will provide a transport link between the new MAVIR electric substation, also under construction, and the Inpark site, the later phase of the Western Boundary Road will connect to the internal exploratory road network of the Southern Economic Zone, providing additional transport links to the roads within the economic zone and the Southern Economic Zone.

Currently, those arriving at the Southern Economic Zone on the motorway cannot enter directly from the southern bypass, but have to drive along it, and from the roundabout before Mikepércs, they have to take Main Road 47, and then at the classification junction at the Krones plant, they can enter the internal road network of the industrial park (and of course the same in the opposite direction). As a result, during the morning rush hour, cars are often backed up at the roundabout in Mikepércs and traffic is also heavy on Main Road 47.

If both sections of the Western Bypass are built, the inner road network of the industrial park will be accessible by car from the Southern Bypass, and all the plants operating there. This would mean that workers would not have to travel to Main Road 47, which would reduce traffic on the section between Mikepércs and Debrecen.
