A new winter event is coming to life in Debrecen
Inspired by the Debrecen Flower Carnival, a new winter wonder arrives: the Ice Flower Carnival, where flowers turn into ice flowers. In August, flowers danced; in December, ice flowers will bloom: the Ice Flower Carnival is coming, the magical “winter sibling” of the Flower Carnival.
On December 13, Debrecen transforms into a shimmering winter tale as the Ice Flower Carnival fills the city with music, laughter, and the scent of Christmas. Frozen stories, glowing dances, and frosty surprises await those who believe in the magic hidden within winter.
In addition to the Ice Flower Carnival, a new attraction is being prepared: the Advent Bridge, which arches spectacularly over the ice rink and, dressed in lights, evokes the atmosphere of the ice kingdom.
Programs at the Ice Flower Carnival:
- 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. – Family movie morning and craft activities at Apolló Cinema
- 10:00 a.m. – Frozen 1 screening – Apolló Cinema
- 12:30 p.m. – Frozen 2 screening – Apolló Cinema
- 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. – Ice sculptor demonstration at Kossuth Square
- 5:00–5:45 p.m. – Ice Flower Carnival parade (Szent Anna Street – Piac Street – Kossuth Square)
- 8:30–10:00 p.m. – Disco on Ice at the Ice Rink
This year, charity and spirituality will also take center stage: donations collected at the city’s Christmas tree will help those most in need.
A day when even the snowflakes will dance, brass bands and children’s laughter will mix with the scent of kürtőskalács “chimney cake,” and every moment will bring back a little of the miracle of childhood. Stories locked in ice, dances dressed in light, and frosty surprises await all those who believe that magic lies in winter.
