A record number of companies at the University of Debrecen Professional Day

At the event, which was held for the 15th time, students were able to receive information about job opportunities, scholarship and internship programs offered by companies. The aim of the event is to strengthen the relationship between the faculty and the economic sector and to help the faculty’s students find employment after graduation.

“The University of Debrecen maintains excellent and continuously developing relations with industrial players. We are now living in the era of dual training, when the higher education institution regularly harmonises education and research with companies, aligning its capabilities and expectations with each other. Thanks to this, students graduating from the university  are already semi-professionals, who think in business plans and feasibility studies alongside practicing their own profession,” Rector of the University of Debrecen, Zoltán Szilvássy emphasised in his welcoming speech.

He pointed out that the students are in a fortunate position to attend a faculty that was among the first to introduce dual education at the University of Debrecen in 2016, building an extremely solid social embeddedness with companies and regional politics.

Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology Ferenc Kun highlighted that their primary goal is to serve the needs of professionals in the wider region’s economic actors with quality practice-oriented training.

He said that only with such training can they guarantee that students graduating here will enter the labor market with competitive knowledge.

“For us, companies are not simply employers, but training partners and very important training places. The past 10-15 years have taught us that in today’s economic environment, successful university training can only be carried out if we cooperate closely with economic actors, involving them in the development of training programmes and education. We have invested significant energy in establishing relationships with almost all industrial companies and economic actors in our wider region,” he pointed out.

The Dean of the Faculty emphasised that the pillars of the network of contacts are the outsourced departments operating at companies, and once a year they meet with our partner companies during the professional day, where they outline the opportunities they offer students and the requirements they place on future employees.

33 companies from the region participated in this year’s professional day. Representatives of the companies presented their offerings in short presentations in Hungarian and English, including their scholarship and internship programs, and outlined their expectations of their future employees.

Following the presentation, students could also obtain more information about the opportunities offered by key players in economic life at the stands.
