A special apartment will be built in downtown Debrecen
The site on Kossuth Street, where a small ruined house once stood between the Land Registry land Office and the County Police Headquarters, has been empty for almost ten years, but soon the machinery will be moving.
BORD Architect Studio Ltd., the design company of the Ybl Miklós Miklós Prize-winning architect Péter Bordás, has published visual plans of the building planned for the site.
“A long and narrow urban plot with a huge firewall – our condominium concept draws on this exceptionally difficult site. Splitting the street-front mass in two, the six-storey residential wing of the building addresses the high firewall of the adjacent listed building, while the three-storey wing also blends well with its other, lower listed neighbour. The National Planning Council describes our concept as a witty solution reminiscent of parasitic architectural elements.”
When contacted by Dehir.hu, the chairman and CEO of the investor Szinorg Universal Zrt., Gyula Szűcs, said that the building has a building permit and that construction will begin this month.
As Dehir.hu learned, the building complex will include 32 apartments, 600 square meters of office space on the ground floor, and a street-facing café.
The HUF 3 billion investment is scheduled to be completed by July next year.
Gyula Szűcs also said that the characteristics of the site are not ordinary, because in addition to being built on a narrow, long plot, the surrounding buildings are listed and protected, so it was not an easy task for the designers, but in his opinion, Péter Bordás’ team solved the task excellently.
BORD Architect Studio( Nagyerdei Stadium, Bem Park, Dóczy Residential Park, Innovation Centre, Aquaticum Debrecen Strand, Forest Center, Debrecen International School, Mercure Hotel, among others) has not only attracted attention in recent days with this building. They designed the luxury condominium MANOR 12 Residencies under construction, and they are also converting the listed building at 14 Bethlen Street into a condominium based on their plans, which once housed the Teacher Training Centre (Ped)i.
Currently, Debrecen is the city where the most apartments are being built in Hungary after Budapest. According to the housing market report of the Hungarian National Bank, a thousand apartments are under construction in Hajdú-Bihar, 87 percent of which are in the county seat.
They also recently announced that Debrecen is announcing a large-scale housing construction programme.
Debreceni Vagyonkezelő (Debrecen Asset Management) has also developed development areas in Tócóvölgy and Derék Street, these will be put out to tender among market players, and the winner must undertake to build more than 1,100 apartments. The first round of this tender closes on June 30, in the second round they would like to select the winner by July 8 in the form of a bid.
