Another mural painting will soon decorate Debrecen
Deputy Mayor István Puskás revealed in his post that the next, now fifth, public mural will be completed in the city centre of Debrecen.
The first one was put up on the firewall of the Bethlen Gábor Technical School of Economics in 2021: the spectacular work was commissioned by the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre and the Alföldi Printing House for the 460th anniversary of the establishment of local printing.
The second one evokes Ákos László, the city’s iconic painter and his work, on the firewall separating Gambrinusz köz, and the third one gives a glimpse into Magda Szabó’s Debrecen on the site of the former Rickl house and trading house, on the wall at Piac Street 39. The series continued with the fourth mural, which can be viewed in the passage between Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street and Hal köz, in the Sesztina-udvar.
It was also revealed that the new painting is being created in the passage connecting Batthyány Street and Jászai Square. István Puskás shared on his social media page that a reproduction of one of János Józsa’s works, which was made of Batthyány Street in 1968, will be painted on the already scaffolded surface.
