Architect Tibor Mikolás was born 100 years ago

The event will end with the presentation of the Tibor Mikolás Architectural Award. 

A series of events have been organised to mark the anniversary, which will end in December with the Tibor Mikolás Architecture Award presentation.

In the meantime, there will be exhibitions, a panel discussion, building tours, and musical programmes. 

The opening ceremony was held on Monday in the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen building, which was also designed by Tibor Mikolás.

Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, István Puskás, emphasized the importance of the audience’s role in preserving the city’s history. 

He stated that it’s up to us to decide whether these modern architectural marvels will become integral to Debrecen’s history and memory. 

The speeches were followed by an exhibition of photographs and models of iconic Debrecen buildings designed by the architect, a poignant reminder of our collective responsibility.
