Asphalt Works Continue at the Junction of Szoboszlói Road and Külsővásártér
The contractor carrying out the capacity expansion work at the Szoboszlói Road – Külsővásártér junction began road surface renovation work on February 26, 2026.
On March 3, 2026, work began on laying the asphalt wearing course on Nyugati Street, with further phases of work to follow.
Subject to weather conditions, the contractor plans to carry out the asphalt works as follows:
• On 4 March 2026 (Wednesday), laying of the asphalt base and binder courses on the city-centre side of Erzsébet Street;
• On 5–6 March 2026 (Thursday and Friday), raising and concreting of the existing manhole covers on the city-centre side of Erzsébet Street;
• On 9–10 March 2026 (Monday and Tuesday), laying of the asphalt wearing course on the city-centre side of Erzsébet Street.
Daytime asphalting works will be carried out with traffic controlled by banksmen, between the morning and afternoon peak periods.
In order to minimise disruption to traffic, junction asphalting works will take place at night (between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.) as follows:
• On 5–6 March 2026 (Thursday and Friday) at the Széchényi Street – Külsővásártér – Nyugati Street junction;
• On 11–13 March 2026 (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) at the Miklós Street – Külsővásártér – Erzsébet Street junction.
During the night works, between 11 p.m. on 5 March 2026 and 5 a.m.on 6 March 2026, Széchényi Street will be closed in its full width from the access road of the Lidl store to the main entrance of DSZC Mechwart András Technical School of Engineering and Information Technology. During this period, it will not be possible to turn into Széchényi Street from the direction of Külsővásártér or Nyugati Street. Diversions will be available via Szoboszlói Road or Kishegyesi Road. Traffic will be controlled by traffic controllers.
Between 11 and 13 March 2026, during the night works, Miklós Street will be closed in its full width from Szív Street to Erzsébet Street. The diversion route will be provided via Antall József Street.
Due to the works, traffic congestion can be expected. Drivers are therefore requested to avoid the affected streets and intersections where possible and to follow the temporary traffic signs instead of their usual routes.
