In Debrecen, the BMW Group has built a full-fledged car factory with a press shop, body shop, paint shop and assembly hall, and a unique battery assembly plant for the in-house assembly of battery cells for the electric drive.

The plant, which covers an area of more than 400 hectares in the Northwest Economic Zone in Debrecen, is the first of the group’s units to be developed entirely according to the iFACTORY concept from the very first planning phase. It aims to produce efficient, environmentally friendly, and digitalised products.

The BMW Group Plant Debrecen, with more than 1,500 employees, is scheduled to start production in 2025. At the same time, the first model of the all-electric Neue Klasse, which will debut in Debrecen, will roll off the production line.

The finishing touches are being put to the BMW Group Plant Debrecen, where the first production runs will begin in the paint shop. The plant can paint 30 bodies per hour, which could be increased. Unique technologies are used to protect the environment. The 71 football field-sized solar park, whose foundation stone was laid on Tuesday, will also serve this purpose.

BMW Group Plant Debrecen regularly shares drone photos, and the local newspaper (dehir.hu) received aerial shots, including some taken during the day, at sunset and at night.
