Books can be borrowed from book vending machines in Debrecen

With the help of the Méliusz Juhász Péter Library, it is even easier to access books.

Readers can now borrow and return documents at six locations in the city without meeting in person and regardless of opening hours.

The book lending machines can only be used by those with a valid reader’s card. Requests can be submitted on the the Méliusz Library website, via the Qulto eCard application, and via e-mail (kolcsonzes@meliusz.hu).

The Méliusz Library kindly asks its readers to indicate in the letter which machine they would like to pick up the documents they want to borrow from.

On weekdays, documents are typically ready within 48 hours, and readers will receive a notification.

The bookcase can be opened using a unique code sent via email or by entering the library card ID. Items must be collected within 5 days of notification.

Book lending machines:

  • Central Library, Debrecen, 19/D Bem Square;
  • Tócóskerti Piac, Debrecen, 6 Holló László Lane;
  • Nagypiac, Debrecen, 3 Vár Street;
  • Fényes udvar, Debrecen, 13 Víztorony Street;
  • József Attila-telepi, Debrecen, 110 Monostorpályi Road —in front of the entrance to the former József Attila-telep Library;
  • Józsa, Debrecen-Józsa, 9 Szentgyörgyfalvi Road—in front of the entrance to the MÉLIUSZ Józsa Library.

The innovative service makes borrowing books easier, safer, and more flexible — so readers can enjoy literature on their own schedule, with just a few clicks.
