BYD’s retail and service network expands to Debrecen
The Chinese automaker’s Hungarian representative office told the Hungarian Telegraph Office (MTI) on Thursday, BYD is further expanding its retail and service network in Hungary, with new car dealerships opening in five new locations in the fourth quarter of 2025: in Debrecen, Kecskemét, Nyíregyháza, Székesfehérvár, and Budapest.
The new locations include showrooms operated by Pappas Auto in Budapest’s 13th district, AutoWallis in Debrecen, JP Auto in Kecskemét and Nyíregyháza, and Autócentrum Szabó in Székesfehérvár. BYD’s full model range will be available in the new dealerships.
The announcement follows a series of successful dealerships opened in the first half of 2025 and is a good example of BYD’s efforts to expand its customer base beyond the capital. The brand’s vehicles are currently available in Budapest, Győr, Pécs, and Szeged.
Founded in 2003, BYD Auto is the automotive subsidiary of the multinational high-tech company BYD, which focuses on the development of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The BYD brand appeared in Hungary in October 2023 with its plug-in, pure electric, and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and its development has been uninterrupted since then. BYD Auto has started the construction of a Hungarian production site in Szeged with an investment of several billion euros and recently announced that it will locate its European corporate and development center in Budapest.
AutoWallis announced on Thursday that, as BYD’s partner in Hungary, it is further strengthening its cooperation with the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles and has agreed with BYD to open a car dealership in Debrecen.
BYD car sales and service center, which has a floor area of 400 square meters, will also include a service center in addition to the exhibition space. The move is in line with AutoWallis’ strategic goal, according to which it intends to continue growing through business development in addition to organic expansion and acquisitions, the statement highlighted.
The expansion in eastern Hungary took place after AutoWallis was the first to open the Chinese car brand’s showroom in the capital in 2023, and then the BYD sales point in Győr this spring.
AutoWallis is the leading integrated car sales and mobility service provider in the Central and Eastern European region.
AutoWallis is present in 17 countries of the Central and Eastern European region (Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Greece, Croatia, Kosovo, Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia) with retail and wholesale trade of automobiles and spare parts, service services, and short- and long-term car rentals.
AutoWallis Plc. shares are traded in the premium category of the Budapest Stock Exchange; the paper closed at HUF 163.5 on Thursday, down 0.3 percent, and its price has fluctuated between HUF 137.5 and HUF 184 over the past year.
