CATL Receives Permit for More Production Lines at Debrecen Plant

Trial production on the first two production lines at the plant began just a few days ago. CATL Debrecen told Médiacentrum Debrecen that, following the necessary technical preparations, production could soon begin on the third and fourth production lines as well.

The Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office has issued a decision in another occupancy permit procedure concerning one of the buildings at CATL’s Debrecen investment. According to the authority’s latest notice, the decision issued on 23 September concerns the occupancy permit for Phase II of the industrial building housing the cell production facility, as well as three lift installations.

Before the occupancy permit was issued, the Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office carried out regular on-site inspections at CATL’s facilities to monitor the resolution of issues that had previously caused serious concern among local residents. Representatives of the authority confirmed that CATL had addressed the deficiencies previously identified during the permitting procedure.

The purpose of trial production is to set up, optimise and test the production equipment and manufacturing processes before serial production begins.

The company has fulfilled all the requirements set out in its IPPC permit and obtained all the relevant approvals. As a result, it received the occupancy permit for the new building in August 2026, allowing it to begin trial production on the first two production lines of the cell manufacturing plant on 22 September, following the authority’s decision. CATL Debrecen has responded to Médiacentrum Debrecen’s enquiry and confirmed that on 23 September it also received approval to start up two additional production lines at the cell plant.

According to the company, production on the third and fourth production lines can begin soon after the necessary technical preparations have been completed.

The company also said that each production line manufactures products tailored to customer requirements, meaning that production volumes depend primarily on the quantities ordered and the design of the products.
