CATL’s new super battery enables Debrecen–Prague trip on one charge

CATL has unveiled two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries specifically designed for Europe at the Munich Motor Show. The company also plans to produce these types at its Debrecen plant. One version of the Shenxing Pro is the world’s first LFP battery that offers a range of 758 kilometers and a record-breaking lifespan of 12 years and 1 million kilometers, respectively. The other version will become Europe’s leading super-fast-charging LFP battery, providing a range of 478 kilometers in just 10 minutes of charging.

The adoption of electric vehicles in Europe is accelerating. According to SNE and MarkLines, the share of electric vehicles in Europe increased from 23 percent to 26 percent in the first half of 2025 and is forecast to reach 29 percent by the end of the year. The International Energy Agency (IEA) expects sales of electric vehicles in Europe to reach 4 million units this year, up from 3.2 million in 2024.

“According to surveys, the most important consumer expectations are related to battery life, range, and battery safety. At the Munich Motor Show, CATL presented two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries specifically tailored for Europe that provide a groundbreaking answer to these challenges. The two types of Shenxing Pro provide performance and safety tailored to the diverse driving needs of Europeans,” emphasizes Matt Shen, Managing Director of CATL Debrecen.

The Shenxing Pro Super Long Life & Long Range battery is the world’s first LFP battery that produces a range of 758 kilometers, so it can take you from Debrecen to Prague on a single charge.

The model also offers a record-breaking 12-year or 1 million km lifespan, a breakthrough in both battery life and range. With a typical 9 percent performance drop after the first 200,000 km, it perfectly meets the needs of European leasing markets.

The Shenxing Pro superfast-charging battery is unique in that it can cover 478 km in just 10 minutes of charging, making it Europe’s leading superfast-charging LFP battery. With an output of 830 kW, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, even at a 20 percent state of charge (SOC), ensuring exciting performance and long-lasting reliability in a variety of conditions. It maintains its exceptional performance even in extreme cold, achieving a range of 410 km in 20 minutes at -20°C. It has a warranty of up to 10 years or 240,000 km and redefines the standards of super-fast charging durability.

“The Shenxing Pro seamlessly combines world-class safety standards with mobility needs, providing a safer, more efficient, and more worry-free experience on every journey,” said Dr. Lingbo Zhu, CTO of CATL’s International Business Unit, at the Munich event, adding, “With its uncompromising range, charging capacity, and durability, the Shenxing Pro is the pioneering solution for electric mobility in Europe.”

CATL, a world leader in the production of electric vehicle batteries and an international market leader in technological innovations based on the use of renewable energy sources, is building its second European battery factory in Debrecen. As one of the industry’s biggest innovators, the company has filed around 49,000 new patent applications in the past 5 years and is continuously developing and optimizing its manufacturing technology.

According to Matt Shen, their goal is to start production in Debrecen by the end of this year or early 2026 at the latest.

The factory will operate with a capacity of 100 gigawatt hours per year, employ 9,000 people, and supply batteries to car manufacturers such as BMW, Stellantis, and Volkswagen.
