Chinese Art Delegation Visited University of Debrecen

The delegation from the Far Eastern higher education institution, which has almost 20,000 students, a wide range of training options, and 52 undergraduate programs, was primarily interested in the university’s art programs.

The meeting was organized with the assistance of the Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai. The delegation from Zhangjiajie College, located in the central part of China, in Hunan Province, was led by Zheng Jianguo, professor of the School of Arts, senior advisor of the China Symphony Orchestra Development Foundation, and member of the Council of the Shanghai International Cultural Association, unideb.hu reports.

The guests were welcomed by Károly Pető, Vice-Rector of the University of Debrecen (UD), and Okszána Kiszil, Director of Coordination and Strategy.

As highlighted, “The delegation was primarily interested in the training and activities conducted at the Faculty of Music and the Confucius Institute of UD. During the meeting, Károly Pető also reported on the education provided at the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Child Education and Special Education. Since Zhangjiajie College also deals with nursing training, the English language opportunities available at the Faculty of Health Sciences of UD were also discussed.”

The meeting revealed that the guests strongly support artistic activities; among other things, they organized the 40th Shanghai Spring Music Festival in March this year. Their plans include holding a 3-5-day large-scale Chinese fine arts festival in Debrecen under the title “China Stage.” The parties agreed to continue further consultations with the Faculty of Music and the Confucius Institute in order to work out the details.

More and more Chinese students study at the University of Debrecen every year; their number currently exceeds 400. Most of them choose the Faculty of General Medicine, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, and the Faculty of Informatics.
