Chinese language students at the University of Debrecen received recognition from the Chinese Ambassador
At the Budapest ceremony, students of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center and the Ady Endre Grammar School also received certificates.
The Confucius Institute of UD was established in the fall of 2019 thanks to the cultural and educational cooperation between the university and the Tianjin University of Foreign Studies to introduce and popularize the Chinese language and culture. The continuously expanding training offers, among other things, Mandarin Chinese language courses at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, as unideb.hu writes.
The award-winning students in upper and middle secondary education and vocational training have been learning Chinese language and culture as an elective course for several years.
At the ceremony held in the decorative garden of the embassy on October 18, five UD students:
Kiara Bognár, Anna Fülöp, Petra Sára Kocsis, Ádám Lengyel and Vera Anna Papp received the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship certificate, which also includes a cash prize, for their outstanding achievements.
Four UD students: Fanni Dobi, Petra Pósán, Tibor Sándor Martin, and Adrienn Dorka Vigh, as well as four students from DSZC and Ady Endre Grammar School in Debrecen, received the Chinese Ambassador’s Award, a certificate, and a prize.
In his speech, His Excellency Ambassador Gong Tao emphasized that language is the bridge of communication, and culture is the bond of friendship, which contributes to the best period in the history of Chinese-Hungarian relations. He highlighted that the embassy continues to fully support the development of Chinese language education in Hungary, thereby contributing to the cooperation and common development of the two countries.
At the event, the Chinese Embassy recognized the outstanding and successful work of the teachers and students of six Confucius Institutes operating in the country, including the one at the University of Debrecen.
