Debrecen also affected by rail traffic delays due to snowfalls

According to MÁV, delays can be expected on trains departing from Debrecen and Nyíregyháza due to a switch malfunction.

There is no need to expect significant disruptions in the operation of InterCity trains passing through the stations, MÁV added.

The wind, as well as the slipstream of passing trains, repeatedly blows snow back into the switches, so the switches must be cleared again after each train passes. For this reason, in snow-covered areas MÁV’s several hundred on-duty standby employees are continuously clearing the switches, and the switch-heating systems are also in operation.

The railway company also draws passengers’ attention to the fact that due to snowy and windy weather conditions, platforms and the steps of railway vehicles may be slippery, so passengers should take extra care when boarding and alighting.
