Debrecen among Europe’s 20 best Christmas markets as the only Hungarian city

Debrecen is the only Hungarian city to be selected by Europe’s leading travel portal, European Best Destinations (EBD), as one of the TOP 20 candidates in the “European Best Christmas Markets” category. This prestigious recognition means that Debrecen Advent is already one of Europe’s outstanding holiday destinations and has the potential to become one of the continent’s best Christmas markets.

Among this year’s nominees are long-established markets in cities such as Gdańsk, Basel, Strasbourg, Zagreb, Vienna, and Tallinn. Debrecen has joined the ranks of internationally recognized cities that have been defining European Christmas tourism for many years.

Voting process:

The final ranking will be decided by public votes.

The following period is available for voting:

  • Between November 20 and 27 (a total of 8 days).
  • Voting is technically open from midnight on 19 November and closes at 11:59 p.m. (Brussels time) on 27 November.
  • One vote per day can be cast per IP address, meaning everyone can vote for Debrecen once per day.
  • No registration is required to vote.
  • The voting link is provided by EBD; the official website will transform into the voting page on November 20, and the results will also appear there at 4:00 p.m. on November 27.

All nominees — including Debrecen — will be entitled to use the European Best Christmas Market title and logo.

Debrecen Advent has undergone spectacular development in recent years and now offers an experience that is outstanding not only nationally but also internationally. The city’s festive offerings, atmospheric fair, cultural programs and family-friendly attractions have rightly placed Debrecen among the most attractive Christmas destinations in Europe.

The organizers will publish the link to the vote immediately after receiving it from the EBD.

For further information is available

At European Best Destinations’s official website, at http://www.europeanbestdestinations.com/christmas-markets

The city of Debrecen would like to thank everyone for their support and encourages residents, visitors, and all interested people in Hungary to help make Debrecen Advent a success with one vote per day.
