Debrecen Hosts Logistics Festival

Linked to Logistics Day, the 10th Logistics Festival attracted around 350 young people from various parts of the country in order to ensure that the sector has a sufficient number of well-trained future professionals.

Students studying logistics gained insight into warehousing processes and various workflows first-hand and learned about the day-to-day realities of the logistics profession. “I study logistics in adult education at the Brassai Sámuel Technical School. It is a very wide-ranging profession. I would like to work in a warehouse or perhaps at a freight forwarding company as a transport organiser,” said Bianka Patrícia Kántor.

At the Logistics Festival, students were also given a range of practical tasks. At the Trans-Sped Ltd. site, they could test themselves at several stations, gaining experience of the diversity of the profession in a real corporate environment. “I would recommend logistics to young people who like precise work, are meticulous or very persistent, and want to find a stable role but may not yet have a clear vision for their future. They can find employment in a wide range of areas and will be able to secure job opportunities across Europe in the future, not just here,” said Vilmos Urbánszki, a university student.

The programme also included a dog-handling demonstration by staff from the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hajdú-Bihar County. Several organisations joined the Logistics Festival, which was held for the tenth time this year. “The event is about making the logistics profession attractive to young people and presenting the opportunities and skills it offers. On such occasions, Trans-Sped strives to reach as many participants as possible,” said Attila Zsolt Gyulavári, the company’s business development coordinator.

Trans-Sped has been cooperating for years with the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre and the University of Debrecen to ensure a steady supply of professionals for the logistics sector. However, experience shows that it is still not easy to find suitable specialists, which is why events like this also aim to present career paths to young people who are still seeking their place in the labour market.

“We see that it is currently astonishingly difficult to search for and find the right professionals. We do everything we can to identify and train the best candidates, and we are completely open to hiring beginners and showing them what this career is like and how it should be done. Fundamentally, however, I think this is a very challenging market,” said Boglárka Kőszegi, the company’s HR director.

The Logistics Festival also featured professional presentations for those interested. Nearly 350 students from eight secondary and higher education institutions in the region attended the event.
