Copenhagen has been named the happiest city in 2025, according to the latest report by the Quality of Life Institute, Index reports.

Debrecen is the second most liveable city in Hungary, according to an international list

The institute has been compiling a list of the world’s most liveable cities for the sixth year in a row, this year based on 82 different criteria. The ranking is based on six main areas: quality of governance, citizen involvement, environmental quality, health, economic opportunities and mobility.

After Copenhagen, Zurich, Singapore, Aarhus, Antwerp, Seoul, Stockholm, Taipei, Munich and Rotterdam are in the top ten. Budapest did not make the top 100: the Hungarian capital scored 700 points to finish 110th, tied with Vuhan in China.

Debrecen ranked 145th, making it the second most livable Hungarian city in the international rankings after Budapest.

Although several cities in the region were not included in the ranking because of a lack of comparable data, Debrecen still made it into the top 200.
