Debrecen Marathon Will Be Held This Year

As announced by the organisers, the Hungarian Sport and Lifestyle Development Cluster, the City of Debrecen, the University of Debrecen and the Debrecen Sportcentrum stand united in support of staging the Debrecen Marathon. “A new organising committee has been established, whose primary objective is to ensure that the city hosts a high-quality running event while also taking into account the interests of the residents of Debrecen,” they said.

The single-lap route would have involved a disproportionate number of restrictions. In order for the race to pass through Debrecen’s most iconic downtown, university and Great Forest areas, the new organising committee will stage the marathon on a revised, multi-lap course. Details of the route will be made public following official approval by the authorities, expected within the next few days.
