Debrecen Performance to Feature Singers from China and Japan
Following last season’s highly successful youth opera introduction performance of The Tales of Hoffmann, the Department of Solo Singing at the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen has set itself the goal of staging a great classical work in the current season.
All those aged 10 to 100 are invited to a youthful-sounding musical fairy tale. Audiences can encounter a heroic prince, a queen, a princess, a fierce dragon-serpent, ladies-in-waiting, an evil Moor and a high priest with a cavernously deep voice. All of this unfolds in a magical, dreamlike world governed by its own distinctive rules. It is brimming with mystical objects, birdsong, sparks of kisses, enchantment, trials and encounters.
This examination performance by students of the Solo Singing programme at the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen will take place in the Latinovits Zoltán Hall of the Csokonai Fórum, featuring the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra.
This examination performance is also a significant encounter and a trial. The young singers have arrived from various regions of Hungary, and some have travelled 8,000 to 9,000 kilometres from China and Japan. They are preparing with great enthusiasm and eagerly await meeting the audience, to guide spectators into the magical world of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Following the performance, interested guests may take part in an informal discussion in the second-floor reception area of the Csokonai Fórum.
The production is directed by Artúr Vranyecz. Further details about the performance are available here.
