Debrecen Vocational Training Centre has a new training facility

The Debrecen Vocational Training Centre has been expanded with a modern training centre. The new Centre for Automotive Innovation will play a significant role in the training of professionals among the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre’s (abbreviated in Hungarian as DSZC) partners, service networks and especially small and medium-sized enterprises.

Students will get a comprehensive overview of more than ten different types of vehicles at the new Innovation Centre of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre. Students from Brassai, Beregszászi and Baross Technikum, among the 11 institutions of the DSZC, will be able to take advantage of the new training centre. Around 150 students from the three institutions will have the opportunity to learn their profession through state-of-the-art technology.

“The most important foundation, but also the superstructure of innovation is what we call a competent professional who can cultivate specialised fields to a very high standard,” MP László Pósán said.

In recent times, more and more emphasis has been placed on the service process in Debrecen and thus on service training, as the automotive industry has become one of the main driving forces of the Debrecen economy.

According to Mayor László Papp, the city’s economy and vocational training have developed together over the past ten years.

“The economy cannot be successful without properly trained professionals. One of the most important requirements of the labour market is the continuously developing vocational training and the presentation and learning of the latest technologies,”  Mayor László Papp said.

According to the Director General of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre, Sándor Szilágyi, a kind of industrial revolution is taking place in the city, which is a perfect opportunity for those involved in vocational training.

“I think that if there are no career opportunities in this environment, there are none anywhere. That is why our students are introduced to these opportunities almost every day, thanks to the companies and enterprises that are settling in, who provide great help in making this possible,”  he said.

Many of the students who acquire the profession immediately find employment in the labor market, and more and more continue their studies.

At the handover of the innovation centre, State Secretary for Higher Education, Vocational and Adult Training, and Youth Veronika Varga-Bajusz, reported that the number of applicants from vocational training to higher education institutions has increased by 57 percent since 2022.

“We believe and would like to further strengthen that young people have a choice and the opportunity to learn, develop and then build a confident career in the best conditions,” she emphasised.

The establishment of the DSZC Automotive Innovation Center cost almost 100 million forints. This included the renovation of the building, the purchase of new, modern equipment and the modernisation of older solutions.
