Debrecen has won the Emerging City of the Year award at the CEE Business Services Awards, one of the largest service industry conferences in the region, László Papp shared on his Facebook page. He added that “the economic development efforts of the past 10 years seem to be paying off, and the people of Debrecen will be the biggest winners!”
The CEE Business Services Awards is the preeminent awards ceremony for the business services sector in our wider region, held every year in Warsaw. In addition to the awards ceremony, a conference is held every year, where Debrecen was also represented this year.
Our city has received special attention. And not by chance, since two cities were left in the running for the “Emerging City of the Year Award” after the preliminary evaluation, Debrecen and Kaunas in Lithuania. In the end, Debrecen won the award.
The award was received by Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa, who also introduced Debrecen to the professionals at the conference. He said, “We are full of talented young people who speak several languages and who need to be offered high-quality jobs in Debrecen. We cannot afford to allow these young people to migrate elsewhere for their careers, which is why it is fantastic to see our city being touted as one of the region’s most promising service hubs at the conference.”
The Deputy Mayor added that they believe that the future of Debrecen is not only about industry, but also about modern office jobs based on young talent.
The continuous development and expansion of the most important business service centres, SSCs, such as IT Services Hungary, British Telecom, Emerson | NI or Transcosmos, has made Debrecen the second largest SSC centre in the country. A significant number of SSCs support the company’s own subsidiaries, but there are also some that serve other companies, develop software, develop technology solutions or provide after-sales services.
