The deputy mayor of Debrecen, responsible for municipal finances, posted on his social media page from China, where he represents Debrecen at the CEEC Mayors’ Summit, at which leaders of Central and Eastern European settlements share their experiences and build new relationships.

“The event clearly shows more and more people are recognising the opportunities for cooperation with the Eastern capital. Among others, Ljubljana in Slovenia is also represented at the event and also wants to follow the path trodden by Debrecen,” reads Lajos Barcsa’s Facebook page.

As the deputy mayor said, “Our city occupies a special place in this dynamically changing economic environment.”

“We are working to become an attractive destination for both Eastern and Western companies in order to ensure that our economy is stable, diversified, and therefore crisis-resistant. In this way, it can serve the well-being of its residents in the long term by generating jobs and competitive wages.”
