Significant transport development investments and institutional modernisation may start in the city’s eastern part. On Thursday, Mayor László Papp and representatives of the affected districts provided detailed information about the plans at a public forum at the Csapókerti Community House.

“2025 will also be the year of transport development in the eastern part of the city: bypass, internal main transport corridor, junction expansion, these are just a few significant developments that will improve transport conditions in this part of the city. All of this is a continuation of previous years’ developments, which align with the needs of those living in the area. Transport must be significantly improved in this part of the city as well, as there are many more passenger cars and much more traffic concentrated in the environment here, and because of this, parking and continuous transport pose quite a serious challenge for the residents here,”  István Székely said.

The large-scale development of Sámsoni Road, which has been ongoing for years, is well underway. This multi-stage investment will make traffic in the district more dynamic and safer.

“The renovation work up to Mátyás király Road will be completed this summer, and I hope that the missing 980 meters of the underpass can begin at the beginning of next year, which will also be a rather lengthy and difficult investment,” Member of Parliament  László Tasó informed.

At the Csapókert residents’ forum, Mayor László Papp said that the eastern district is affected by several planned large-scale developments that will significantly determine the life and future of the entire city. “In addition to transportation, the development of public utilities is also on the agenda. Other infrastructural developments in the eastern part of the city are also being discussed, as we signed a major planning contract a year and a half ago to develop the water infrastructure, the water and sewer network here on the city’s eastern side,” the Mayor emphasised. Institutional renovations will also continue, improving the quality of life of those living in the area.

“Take, for example, the complex development of the Csapókerti Primary School. I can safely say that it is one of the most popular schools in the eastern part of the city. More than 400 students attend this institution, and as we can see, it is high time to renovate it completely,” Viktor Papp, a local government representative, pointed out.

The public forum participants received comprehensive information about the planned investments in the eastern part of the city. The event also reviewed the transport development route plans.
