From 1  May, after the public transport company in Debrecen, DKV; the Zsuzsi Forest Railway also allows all dogs to travel free of charge on its trains.

Of course, as with public transport, dogs can travel with their owners subject to the rules.

Animal protection officer and local government representative, Edina Szilágyi emphasised, “I always kindly ask each and every dog owner to respect the rules of the journey. It is very important and I would also like to emphasise here that when they arrive in the forest, we ourselves are also guests there, so dogs cannot just be let loose there either. We should use a leash so that we do not disturb the environment and the lives of wild animals”.

Many people decided to take a trip with the forest railway in the nice summer weather last week. The destination was, of course, Hármashegyalja, where the families were treated to a real feast.

“This is the best family event in the area and the train ride is a great experience for us,” József Paublusztig said.

Last year around 20,000 people travelled on the Zsuzsi. The regular services started  on 1 May.

“Until the last weekend in September, it will operate two pairs of services on weekends and public holidays and one pair on Wednesdays. In addition to all this, we are of course preparing special programmes with tours to Hármashegyalja. The main message of this year is still the natural values,” CEO of DKV PLC and Managing Director of Zsuzsi Forest Railway Szabolcs Tóth Tóth said.

The Zsuzsi Forest Railway is now a Debrecen City Card acceptance point, helping families to spend more time in nature with this discount.
