Employee Interest Protection Office Opened in Debrecen

From March 4, 2026, the Municipality of Debrecen is operating an Employee Interest Protection Office in the New City Hall.

The purpose of the new customer service point is to provide assistance to all employees who do not know where to turn in the event of workplace, labor law or health issues.

The Municipality of Debrecen pays special attention to ensuring that businesses and companies operating in the city comply with the law, including with regard to the safety and rights of employees. It is important for the city administration that the problems of those working in Debrecen, whether they are labor law issues or health-related matters, are resolved as quickly and professionally as possible.

With this goal in mind, the local government has set up an Employee Interest Protection Office at the New City Hall, at window 14. Starting March 4, 2026, the office will be open during business hours to employees who wish to file a complaint, ask a question, or make a report. The office staff will forward the cases they receive to the competent authorities for investigation, thereby helping to initiate the necessary procedures.

As of today, the office can also be reached electronically at munkavallalo.erdekvedelem@debrecen.hu.

Several anonymous workplace complaints have been made public in recent times. The city administration of Debrecen takes all such reports seriously, but emphasizes that workplace accidents and legal violations can only be investigated through official channels. It is the responsibility of employees and employers to make the necessary reports so that cases can be investigated professionally and lawfully.

For the city administration of Debrecen, the life, physical integrity, and health of the citizens of Debrecen come first. That is why it was decided to establish the Employee Interest Protection Office in the New City Hall. The purpose of the office is to enable anyone who experiences workplace issues, occupational safety or health problems to seek help through official and professional procedures.
