Debrecen has hosted running races in factories and airports before, but nothing like what Debrecen Zoo is preparing for. On May 1st, the zoo will hold their first charity running race, titled “Run for Animals!” on the zoo grounds.

The entry fees and other subsidies would be used to expand the capybara couple’s home, Diego and Mika. (Diego, the young male, arrived from the Hodenhagen Zoo in Germany in 2023, the graceful female, Mika came to Debrecen from Latvia.)

Information about the charity run:

• Participation Fee: From HUF 3,000 per person. Since this is a charity event, if you’d like to contribute more, you’re welcome to do so! Every forint counts, and all proceeds go directly to the capybaras’ habitat improvement.
• Registration Deadline: 30 April, 12.00 p.m.
• Registration is online only, by transferring the entry fee to the following bank account: OTP Bank 11738008-21036871,  Payment reference: Name + Number of participants

Whether you run or walk, the most important thing is to be there and support the animals together.
