“Bérletszünet” (Subscription Break) the Orchestra of the Csokonai National Theatre  is more than just a musical ensemble — it is a community of friends bound together by their love of music and the creative spark that flows when they play together. 

The members are actors by profession, accustomed to the lights and drama of the theater stage, yet when they gather as musicians, they discover a different kind of fulfillment. Making music together is not about roles or scripts; it is about joy, spontaneity, and the shared experience of creating something beautiful for themselves and for their audience.

This Advent season, the orchestra is preparing a festive program designed to warm hearts and lift spirits in Debrecen. Their repertoire spans cultures and traditions, weaving together beloved American and Hungarian classics, multi‑voiced choral works, and folk song arrangements that celebrate the richness of musical heritage. Listeners can expect familiar melodies reimagined with fresh energy, alongside timeless pieces that evoke the joy and togetherness of the holiday season.

On December 12 at 5:00 p.m., the Bérletszünet Orchestra will step onto the Advent stage, inviting the people of Debrecen to join them in a celebration of music, friendship, and festive cheer.
