Performance of the East Brass band at the Debrecen Advent

The members of the band, made up of four musicians, are professional musicians who think similarly about their profession, brass performance art. Their performances offer exhilarating moments to those interested in music and the public who want to relax. Their repertoire includes many arrangements, from which Christmas tunes that are especially well-known during the Advent season will be heard. Debrecen Wine Festival 2023

The Debrecen Wine Show will be held on November 25, 2023 at the Csokonai Forum where visitors will be welcomed to Hungary's largest rural wine show with nearly 50 wineries and 200 types of wine, as well as gastronomic delicacies. Production of DuoTrio street theatre at Debrecen Advent

DuoTrio Street Theater's performances are improvised from stories inspired by the audience with the active participation of the audience. Their interactive show on stilts will be shown several times at Debrecen Advent. Members of the team: Tímea Telenkó-Oláh (Vojtina Puppet Theater) Gergely Máté Kiss (Csokonai National Theatre) Zsolt Györgyfi (Kodály Philharmonic) Endre Molnár (Hungarian National Circus) Timi and Pöti are artists on leave from "Kőszínházak Circus". In the summer, they act out their dream roles on the streets of towns and villages: the warm-hearted strongman and the prima donna on stilts. This summer, they spent in Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Geneva, in the town of Charlie Chaolin, Vevey. Their performance "Bodri, the smiling lap" was selected from 240 applicants for the 21st Festival des Artistes de rue á Veve  street theatre festival, where they were represented among Brazilian, Australian, Chilean, German, Spanish, Italian and English circus and theatre artists for the first time in 21 years Hungary this time. Christmas performance of the Debrecen Hajdú Dance Ensemble

The jubilee show of the Hajdú Dance Ensemble of Debrecen, in which the youth, adult and beginner adult groups of the group will perform, can be seen during the Debrecen Advent. The Debrecen Hajdú Dance Ensemble was founded in 1953 and this year celebrates its 70th anniversary. The ensemble currently has nearly 350 members, from kindergarten to senior age. Their work has been honoured with numerous awards, including the European Folk Art Award, the Mihály Vitéz Csokonai Award, the Hungarian Heritage Award and the Pro Urbe Award of the City of Debrecen. In the rating system of folk dance ensembles, all generations have so far earned the highest grades: the Gold I and the title of "Excellent Ensemble". The audience has seen them perform several times in the rogramme "Felszállott, a páva" in the children's, adult and solo categories, reaching the finals each time. Their repertoire includes traditional dances from all over the Hungarian-speaking world. They regularly collaborate with the Csokonai National Theatre both in the theatre's productions and with their own dance theatre pieces. Charity Wardrobe Sale

At the sale, you can sell clothes and make donations. The price of the clothes should not exceed HUF 1,000 per item. Yoga for women at Aquaticum

Every month, on two designated Thursdays, from 4 p.m. until closing time, the ladies take centre stage, and during this period, our sauna world is just for the ladies without the men.  On ladies' days, Anna Kinga Jámbor gives a ladies' yoga class in the relaxation room of the Thermal Spa (opposite the Sauna World). In today's fast-paced world, yoga is an excellent way to stay in touch with your body, notice its signs in time, and improve your health and physical and mental balance through regular practice. Yoga for women is a more indulgent mindset than a traditional type of class. The focus is on the cycles of the female body, stress management and relaxation. From 5 p.m. onwards, with the help of professional sauna instructors, women will be able to relax from the week's fatigue and learn about the benefits of a healthy sauna experience for both body and soul. Exhibition in The Cat Cafe

From the 1st of December, Zsuzsa Aradi's paintings of animals - mainly cats - can be seen in a bunch at the popular Cat Café in Debrecen. The exhibited paintings, which depict animals in different styles and approaches, are among the artist's favourite works. The Cat Cafe hosting the exhibition is also home to ten kittens and is somewhere you can enjoy various drinks and cakes in the company of the purring four-legged friends. At the opening ceremony on the 1st of December, visitors could hear the recitations of poet and performer István B. Orosz and the piano playing of teacher and journalist Péter Nádudvari. The painting appeared in Zsuzsa Aradi's life when she saw the white walls of her family's new home as too barren. She first decorated the rooms with old acrylic paint; then she recreated stairs, doors and smaller pieces of furniture. After a while, she also acquired a few canvases to brighten up the children's room with two or three more colourful pictures, and from then on, painting became her passion. English program in the playground Sziget-kék

Playground Sziget-kék Nagyerdei Körút 19., Debrecen, Hungary

Puppetry and movement training in the playground Sziget-kék The training of Éva Viktória Nagy, puppet artist and director, focuses on conscious movement through puppet thinking. The one-day course provides the opportunity to focus on both inner and outer awareness, allowing emotions and situations to emerge through movement - all through puppetry and its means of expression. The training will include exercises related to movement and puppetry to develop imagination, creativity, concentration and, of course, the ability to listen to others and to cooperate. No previous experience is necessary to participate in the training and it is not only for professionals. The training costs HUF 15,000 in advance and HUF 19,000 on the spot. 1st of December 2023 - English program from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with a 45-minute lunch break) 2nd of December 2023 - Hungarian program. Santa Claus Weekend at the Zoo Debrecen

Santa Claus will visit the residents of the Zoo Debrecen on 2nd  and 3rd of December to treat them to some delicious treats.  Of course, visitors will also be able to meet Santa, as he will be waiting for children and adults in his cabin between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on both days. Visitors can join Santa for the festive feedings of the “Animals in Action” programme. The elves who help Santa in his absence will also be delighted to welcome children to Santa's Cabin, where they can make their own souvenirs, while singing and taking photos together. Artúr, the friendly Shetland pony, and his caretaker will be roaming the park in the morning and afternoon with a stand full of sweets (szaloncukor). Santa Claus is Coming to the Aquaticum

This year, Santa Claus will also visit the Aquaticum to meet the best swimming and sliding children. Children visiting the Aquaticum will enjoy a full day of authentic family fun and lots of fun activities to celebrate Advent and Santa Claus. With this event, Aquaticum wants to make the first Sunday of Advent even more special. Program: 11 a.m. -12 p.m.: Gingerbread decoration 11 a.m. - 1pm.: Children's favourite friends Olaf and Mickey Mouse, and of course Bubu will be there in life-size. In Santa's Corner, children can take photos with giant candies and Christmas globes. 1  p.m. - 2.30 p.m.: Christmas carols are sung while children can splash in the pool. 2.30  p.m. - 3.30 p.m.: Santa Claus arrives with a little surprise in his bag for every child. 3.30 p.m - 5 p.m.: Handicraft corner Photos are taken of the children as they receive a little surprise from Santa. Christmas Show of Agyagbanda Band from Miskolc

The Agyagbanda Band will welcome the public with a Christmas show at Debrecen Advent. The Agyagbanda Band from Miskolc has an incredibly rich repertoire of sheet music, folk tunes, old hits, and jazz tunes.  Of course, visitors can also listen to the latest hits performed in the band's own style at the event.. The members of the orchestra are Ádám Fáy/saxophone, Tamás Jakab/clarinet, Sándor Jeczenyik/tango accordion, Tamás Labant/guitar, Máté Ács/drums, Dániel Négyesi/baritone horn. First Advent Candle Lighting

On the 3rd of December at 4.45 pm, the traditional march starts from the Old Town Hall and goes to the  Reformed Great Church.  Mayor of Debrecen László Papp, Greek Catholic Archbishop Fülöp Kocsis, Reformed Bishop Károly Fekete, and Catholic Bishop Ferenc Palánki will give a speech in front of the Reformed Great Church at 5 p.m.  A festive square play performed by the Ort-Iki Puppet and Street Theatre, the Debrecen Folk Ensemble, the Dance Group of the Csokonai National Theatre, actors István Papp and Kinga Újhelyi, the Kiskórus (Small Choir), the Hortobágy Shepherds, the Kuckó Art Studio and the Bíró Orchestra can also be seen.  Source: Dehir
