Exhibition “Pictures literally” opens on the 27th of April

University of Debrecen Egyetem tér 1., Debrecen, Hungary

In addition to his civil work, the exhibition "Pictures literally" of a family father from Hajdúböszörmény, who is engaged in many creative activities, opens on the 27th of April. The exhibition of Zsolt Böszörményi Kovács will be opened by Szilvia Szilágyi in Elméleti Tömb (Life Sciences Gallery of the University of Debrecen) at 3:00 p.m. with the collaboration of Valahány band. The artist tries to create completely unique, modern images to show proportion, beauty and dynamism in the images, all through improvisation. Some images are dominated by exciting structure and detail, others by composition and sometimes both. His aim is to make the images 'fun to look at', to give a positive, at most disturbing, but not negative experience. The exhibition is open until the 23rd of May. Family and Health Day at Liget Square

The first family event of the year with concerts, shows and other activities will take place on Saturday afternoon on the 27th of  April at Liget Square, from 2.00 p.m.  to 6.00 p.m.   The programmes include: performances by the Debrecen Folk Ensemble, Törköly Orchestra, Kangaroo Dance Sports Club and Luca Balduccio in the framework of the Move, Debrecen! programme, there will be a senior joy dance demonstration, visitors can look at retro cars Aqua Mano Party (a musical children's show) skill show by Mancsok és Paták Terápiás Egyesület (Paws and Hooves Therapy Association), Békessy Béla Fencing Club presentation  and many other interesting events.  The full programme can be found here. Tango Opera, María De Buenos Aires at Csokonai Fórum

The next performance of Tango Opera, María De Buenos Aires can be seen on the 27th of April at 7.00 p.m. at  Csokonai Fórum.  The nearly two-hour musical production at the Csokonai Theatre has raised the bar for musical theatre in Debrecen. The unique tango opera, María De Buenos Aires takes the audience into the South American night with a story rich in emotion and action. About the performance: María De Buenos Aires, a tango opera by Astor Piazzolla, is a classic tale about a girl who lives by night and is tango personified. She becomes a prostitute, falls in love, and is murdered. Despite her rebirth and becoming a parent, she is still best described as 'born on a day when God was drunk'. The musical world combines classical, jazz, and traditional tango. Tickets can be purchased via this link. Exhibition Titled “Dragons live here“ Opens on the 28th of April

Anna Versényi’s exhibition Mappa Mundi  "Dragons live here" will be opened on the 28th of  April at 11:00 a.m. by poet and art critic János Áfra with flutist Lilla Magyari accompanying the event. Her literary career started in the eighties, she has published several volumes, but she has  constantly been  interested in the world of images as well. Apart from the works of the creative artist, she can be seen this weekend at the Elméleti Tömb (Theoretical Gallery). The images on display are graphics related to the concept of the world map. It shows the desire for inhabitable worlds, the fear of the unknown, the interpretation of our world. The artist is exhibiting a series of 28 pieces, the motto of which is the inscription of a mediaeval map, and also the title of one of the graphics. Debrecen Antiques Fairs on the 28th of April

On the second and fourth Sunday of every month, from 7 a.m. at the Nagyerdei Stadium, visitors loving the market atmosphere are awaited in Debrecen with coins, medals, weapons and furniture, in addition dealers also sell sell a  wide selection of china tableware, paintings, family silverware. The offer is varied and diverse. Main season opening day of Debrecen Zoo on the 1st of May

On the 1st of May, it will be 66 years since Debrecen Zoo opened its gates, and to mark the occasion they invite visitors to join for a celebration. On the May Day celebration the Zoo will host  activities for young and old, including zoo residents in action and 25 unlimited magic wristband attractions.  Programmes: music and dance performances concert by the Moonlight Band square music and a picnic children's craft stall hourly sugar cane making and a giant puppet show by the Garagulya stilt company  birthday exhibition of visitors' photos from the past six and a half decades to give visitors a glimpse into the Park's rich history.   On the 1st of  May, the theme park can be visited with: a HUF 2,500 per person ticket or with a magic ticket for unlimited use of the amusement machines for HUF 5,800 per person Zoo tickets for the theme park are available at the normal price on site and online.   Date: 1 May Location: Debrecen Zoo Source: zoodebrecen.hu

Slag Motorcycle Individual European Championship qualification

Those attending the first domestic slag motorcycle race of the year, the European Championship qualifier on the 1st of  May, can prepare for a truly colourful and race-filled event as representatives from 12 nations will take to the starting grid on the Labour Day in Debrecen. As this is a European Championship event, the best riders from the participating nations will be in the city, so fans will be able to see a number of the best ones in the race. There will be huge battles to come, from a field of 16, only the top four qualify for the SGP Challenge in Latvia  will qualify for the SGP Challenge in Latvia, where they will qualify for the 2024 SEC European Championship Series, which will be held in Debrecen on the 8th of  June. Travelling Exhibition of Architecture Award Winners in Debrecen

The travelling exhibition of the "Youth in Black and White 2023" architecture award will arrive in Debrecen on the 2nd of May and will be open until the 12th of May at MODEM. The opening of the exhibition will take place on the 2nd of  May from 4:00 p.m., with Levente Borenich, Fuzzy Earth and the curators. “Youth in Black and White 2023” is a 20-years old competition and travelling exhibition of the Hungarian Association of Architects for artists under 40 working with the built environment, currently curated by GUBAHÁMORI. Exhibition by Impressionist Painter Opens in Egri Borbarát Gallery

An exhibition of paintings by  teacher and agricultural engineer György János Adamik entitled “The Dream of a Lightsmith” opens on the 2nd of May at 6:00 p.m. at  Egri Borbarát Gallery in Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, Debrecen. This is not the first time that the artist, who considers himself an impressionist painter, has exhibited here; he paints in nature, but his paintings are not intended to depict only the visible world. The exhibition opened by cultural organiser Szilárd Tömöri  is on view until the 3rd of June. Flower & Cars Show on the 5th of May at Józsapark

Organisers cordially invite visitors all to their premium car show, which will take place in Debrecen’s Józsapark on the 5th of  May  from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00. p.m. For the third time, Debrecen will host the first big show of the season, the second time that flowers will be present alongside cars. The sports and luxury cars on display can be looked at and photographed at, and in addition visitors can also have a seat in them. A charity raffle and collection will be also organised with all proceeds going to the Save Beni Foundation.
