Exam artworks exhibited in the New Town Hall Gallery
The graduating students of the Kós Károly Art Secondary School, Technical School, and Dormitory in Debrecen are presenting their exhibition titled “Vizsgaremek 2025” at the New Town Hall Gallery.
At the opening of the exhibition, Deputy Mayor István Puskás recalled that the exhibition space was created a few years ago to enable residents of Debrecen to reflect on the city’s local values while attending to their daily business.
“We are always delighted when not only great classical artists, creators, not only the great masters, not only the values of the past but also the youngest and the future are shown. After all, it is essential to be proud of our past and to know our roots, but it is also crucial to look towards the future. The exhibited design pieces do not belong to the traditional Debrecen design world, but they somehow speak of the future and its creators,” he said. He added that it is very exciting to see how the graduating students define themselves and how they see the world.
Director of the Debrecen School District Centre, László Türk, highlighted that when he viewed the exhibited works, the word “freedom” came to mind. “The exhibition gives certainty that your school lets go of your hands in a way that you have received the means to your journey. For me, it gives certainty that our teachers perform the profession with heart and soul, thanks to which we can welcome the artists of the future. It gives certainty that art schools have an important role in the 21st century,” he emphasised.
Director of the Kós Károly Art Secondary School, Technical School, and Dormitory, Tünde Szabadka Vargáné , stated that the works presented at the exhibition are the results of the second semester, and a significant amount of work went into creating the 36 outfits. “The exam artworks on display here are more than simple objects or pictures: they reflect the students’ vision, their craft, and the journey they have taken with their teachers over the five years,” the director underlined.
The exhibition will be on display until July 19, 2025, during the New Town Hall’s opening hours.
