Free Leaf Collection Bags Available Again in Debrecen in 2026

A tradition spanning more than a decade, the distribution of free leaf collection bags will continue in Debrecen this autumn. With the help of city councillors for the 23 districts, residents will once again be able to obtain bags free of charge to help collect green waste.

The initiative was launched more than ten years ago by the Fidesz–KDNP group, with the aim of working together with residents during the autumn leaf-fall season to keep Debrecen clean, maintain tidy residential areas and encourage environmentally responsible waste management.

In autumn 2026, almost 400,000 leaf collection bags will be made available to Debrecen residents free of charge through cooperation between the waste concession operator and the Municipality of Debrecen.

The bags can be collected free of charge, and no advance online registration is required. Please note that the advertised dates and times may change due to weather conditions or other circumstances.
