Harro Höfliger joins another dual training programme at the University of Debrecen
In 2026, Harro Höffliger’s Debrecen location will be expanded with another production plant.
Meanwhile, after the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen, the company is also participating in the dual training of the Faculty of Economics in order to ensure a supply of professionals.
“The aim of today’s strategic agreement is to once again add an excellent Debrecen company to the Faculty of Economics’ partner list, and according to the agreement, we will work together on several fronts in the future. The real work will now begin, as we will now work out the details in terms of education, research, and other corporate collaborations,” the dean of the faculty, Veronika Fenyves, highlighted.
The company, which manufactures medical technology and pharmaceutical machinery, will welcome students participating in the dual training programme of the Faculty of Economics from September, and Harro Höfliger will also join the cooperative training. The company prioritises the issue of workforce supply.
“It is well known that our company is in a major investment, a major development phase, and it automatically follows that we need more and more employees,” Managing Director Csaba Juhász said.
The Harro Höfliger plant, which has been operating in Debrecen since 2004, will be the company’s largest production centre outside of Germany. The expansion of production capacity also requires a significant increase in the number of employees.
“We are primarily affected in the technical and technological line, but as the company’s staff continues to grow, and as we are currently continuously recruiting and our staff continues to grow, not only is the number of our colleagues working in production and the technological line increasing, but the service areas and support areas are also expanding. Such as sales, finance, purchasing, logistics, and HR,” HR Director Péter Kanizsár explained.
About 150 people have graduated from joint dual training programmes with the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre and the Faculty of Engineering of UD in recent years. Currently, 49 students are doing their summer internship at Harro Höfliger, and from autumn, another 50 students will start dual training at the company. So far, the focus has been on dual vocational training, but now the cooperation with the University of Debrecen is entering a new level; new dual training programmes are starting from both the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Engineering and will be able to accept an increasing number of students every year.
