The high school information day has opened at Fórum Debrecen
The event, held on October 20-21, helps eighth graders who are about to choose their career path.
For the seventh time, more than 25 secondary institutions will present their educational offerings to young people at the Fórum Debrecen. Current secondary school students will be giving useful advice to graduates at the stands.
The Fórum Debrecen was filled with young people on Monday morning. More than 1,100 eighth-graders are graduating from the 28 elementary schools of the Debrecen School District Center this school year. The SúliFórum (High School Information Day) welcomes students who are about to continue their studies and their parents so that they can familiarize themselves with the educational offerings of all secondary schools in the city.
“Professional subjects and career choices are obviously very important, but foreign languages are also very important alongside specialized subjects, and this is always emphasized. And, of course, students are also interested in what makes Ady special and what programs await them outside of class” Sándor Dobránszky, principal of the Ady Endre High School in Debrecen,” said.
“Students give advice to students, there is nothing more authentic than that,” László Türk, director of the Debrecen School District Center stated at the event. “Representing secondary institutions, many students give useful advice to those interested. This year, roundtable discussions were also organized at the suggestion of the student council. Students will also speak to students on various topics—success through knowledge, pluses, and the importance of language learning—and to parents in the evening hours, thereby helping students continue their education,” he pointed out.
“Young people can find out more at the stands of more than 25 institutions. In addition to the institutions of the Debrecen School District Center, the Vocational Training Center, the secondary schools of the historical churches, and the University of Debrecen will also be presenting themselves at the two-day event. There are several reasons why Debrecen is a true school city even today. On the one hand, it is the collaboration, since all the maintainers are present here at the SuliFórum, and on the other hand, it is the career path that Debrecen can show, since practically from kindergarten to university graduation and after that to job opportunities, everyone is working to ensure that children find their future here,” Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa stessed.
The SuliFórum is still open to interested parties on Tuesday. In November, programs to help with career choices will continue with the open days of Debrecen institutions.
