Hungarian IT is gaining momentum: OMIKRON opens a new office in Debrecen

The company started in Budapest, and it is getting stronger in Debrecen: OMIKRON Informatika Kft., which has been operating for nearly 40 years, has opened a new office in the city. According to the company, regional presence is not just a logistical or HR issue but a long-term strategic decision in which the local partner, the Xanga Group, also plays a key role.

Founded in 1986, the fully Hungarian-owned OMIKRON has embarked on a spectacular growth path in recent years. In addition to the Budapest center, they are working on more and more projects in the countryside, and due to their expanding team, it has become timely to open a second office.

The Budapest center has been operating at full capacity for quite some time, so not only a new location but also new spaces were needed.

“We are now at a point where we need to expand in Budapest as well; we have outgrown the office. Debrecen was a logical next step, as we have outgrown the community workspaces there as well, and it is clear that a local presence is valuable in itself,” stated Csaba Nagy, Managing Director of OMIKRON Informatika Kft.

The Debrecen office is thus not only a response to market and service needs but also one of the basic conditions for the development of the team.

Infrastructure built on partnership

The opening of the Debrecen office is not only a capacity expansion but also the result of conscious cooperation, as OMIKRON built its new presence together with one of the city’s most important real estate developers, the Xanga Group. The relationship is not new; the IT company had been using the flexible office environment provided by Xanga for years but now operates in its own, dedicated location.

“We believe that partnership and cooperation between Hungarian companies can be one of the engines of economic development,” emphasized István Herdon, Managing Director of Xanga Group, and added that the fact that a national IT company headquartered in Budapest has chosen us as the location for its first rural office confirms that we are on the right track. The goal of our developments is precisely to provide a technological and business environment that can be a competitive alternative to the capital.

In recent years, Xanga Group has become one of the most active developers in the eastern part of the country; their portfolio covers industrial, logistics, office, and hotel projects.

The Debrecen office thus not only represents an expansion for OMIKRON from a geographical perspective but also provides an environment where technological knowledge and infrastructure go hand in hand.

Not just being present, but also shaping

Opening an office in the countryside is not only a response to existing market needs but also an integral part of OMIKRON’s vision. The company is convinced that in the areas of business IT, industrial digitalization, and cybersecurity, not only the quality of services but also geographical proximity can be a key factor in long-term partnerships.

“Debrecen is more than a location for a new office for us; this presence is also symbolic. It sends the message that we are thinking not only in Budapest but nationwide, and that we are ready to provide services where we can create real value,” emphasized András Marton, the other managing director of OMIKRON Informatika Kft.

“For me, as someone with ties to Debrecen, it is a special pleasure that we were able to open a new chapter in the company’s life right here,” added Csaba Nagy.

Fast response, local expertise

The company aims to serve its partners even more effectively in the field of industrial IT, engineering consulting, and IT operations through its presence in Debrecen, while leaving the doors of the future open, as the next logical step could be another rural office, for example, in Pécs.

According to OMIKRON’s business philosophy, local presence is not the opposite of national operations; on the contrary, it is one of its most important conditions. One of OMIKRON’s biggest competitive advantages is that it not only installs systems but also ensures their long-term operation, even in real time. This type of service concept becomes especially important for partners who operate critical infrastructure or continuous production.

“If a problem arises at one of our industrial partners—for example, in a manufacturing plant or power plant—there is no time to wait for days. The presence in Debrecen means that we can provide on-site support within hours, which would be much more difficult to achieve from other regions,” highlighted András Marton.

Fast reaction time is crucial not only in troubleshooting but also in system development and consulting processes, especially in areas such as industrial IT, cybersecurity, or network infrastructure operation. Local presence thus not only increases the speed of services but also their quality.

Creating value: locally and nationally

The trajectory of OMIKRON Informatika Kft. is a good example of how a Hungarian-owned company based on an engineering approach can remain on a stable growth path without being forced into centralization. The experiences of recent years show that the model that combines technological knowledge with a local presence also works in the Hungarian market.

However, this also requires partners like the Xanga Group, which can provide a flexible yet professional environment for rural expansion.

“We do not want to provide an answer to every problem or project that arises from Budapest. If one of our partners operates in Eastern Hungary, whether it is about production, data security, or engineering support, we want to be truly available to them, locally, quickly, and prepared,” said Csaba Nagy.

The company’s vision is for a business ecosystem in which the presence in Budapest, Debrecen—and eventually even Pécs—does not compete with each other but forms a system that offers nationwide coverage but personalized solutions.
