Junior Debrecen City Card Registration

Registration for the Junior Debrecen City Card, available for children and students between the ages of 6 and 14 studying in kindergartens and schools in Debrecen, started on September 23. Since the launch of the Junior Debrecen City Card in April 2024, more than 15,000 registrations have been made.

Important information regarding applying for the card:

On scheduled services of DKV Debreceni Közlekedési Zrt. until the end of October 2025, the transport company will accept the presentation of a photo document (ID card/student ID card/passport) suitable for proving their age for free travel from children who are entitled to a Junior Debrecen City Card pass but do not yet have a card.

If the beneficiaries register for the Junior Debrecen City Card by October 20, 2025, the Junior Debrecen City Card will allow them to use the free travel service on DKV Zrt.’s scheduled services from November 1. If the registration takes place later—for example, on October 21 or thereafter—then free public transport can be used on DKV Zrt.’s services from December 1 by presenting the city card.

Who is eligible for the Junior Debrecen City Card?

It can be applied for by children and students between the ages of 6 and 14 who have a kindergarten or student status in public educational institutions operating in Debrecen.

What advantages and discounts does the Junior Debrecen City Card provide?

Local public transport can be used free of charge with the Junior Debrecen City Card or the Debrecen City Card with Junior Debrecen City Card registration.

In addition to free public transport, various discounts can be used with the City Card at more than seventy acceptance points, details of which can be found HERE.

How to apply for the Junior Debrecen City Card?

The Junior Debrecen City Card can be applied for by registering online at the following link: https://debrecenvaroskartya.hu/junior-varoskartya

During online registration, it must be specified whether a Junior Debrecen City Card is being requested for the child or whether free public transport should be linked to an existing Debrecen City Card.

Is any action needed for an existing Junior Debrecen City Card?

No action is required for children who are not new entrants and were already registered in the previous school or kindergarten year. They do not need to re-register and can use their City Card to travel on DKV Zrt.’s services starting in September.

Further information about the Junior Debrecen City Card can be found HERE.
