LEGO Ecce Homo Returns to Debrecen
The artwork previously displayed at the Déri Museum has recently embarked on a significant tour. The 4-metre-wide and 2.5-metre-high piece was installed at its next exhibition venue, the Bagamér Community House, by its creators, the Tekerd! group, together with museum staff. It was on display there for three weeks, the Déri Museum announced in a post on Wednesday.
As previously reported, the Munkácsy painting built from 150,000 LEGO bricks set off on a four-stop spring tour from the Déri Museum at the beginning of March. The mosaic artwork was also taken to settlements where disadvantaged children live, and audiences in Oradea were likewise able to encounter the piece.
Since last Advent, the special mosaic picture, measuring two and a half metres in height and four metres in width, had been on display in the Dome Hall of the Déri Museum.
Due to the spring tour, the artwork had to be dismantled, and on Palm Sunday it will return to Debrecen for a time: it will be exhibited in the Great Reformed Church on Friday.
There has been interest in the composition from both domestic and international locations, so it is expected that after the spring tour the Ecce Homo mosaic will be presented at additional venues as well, as previously reported.
