Let’s find the Christmas tree of Debrecen together!

In keeping with tradition, donations are once again being welcomed this year for Debrecen’s Christmas tree.

Dear residents,

In line with tradition, contributions for Debrecen’s Christmas tree are once again being invited this year. Every year, a donated pine tree is placed in front of the Reformed Great Church in the city center, on Kossuth Square, to symbolize the Christmas holiday.

The Municipality of Debrecen continues this tradition this year. If you have a pine tree at least 15 meters tall in your garden or on your property and would like it to decorate the main square, please apply.Applications are accepted from all parts of Debrecen.

The municipality will ensure the cutting and safe transport of the tree. The most beautiful holiday trees will be personally examined by municipality colleagues based on the applications received.

Application process:

Please send an e-mail to omaisz@ph.debrecen.hu no later than October 31, 2025.

When applying, please provide:

– Your exact address and phone number
– A photo of the tree
– A short personal story related to the tree

The festive lights will be switched on on November 30, 2025, the first Sunday of Advent, in Kossuth Square, contributing to creating the Christmas atmosphere.
