According to MKIF PLC, the largest highway reconstruction project in Hungary’s history started in 2023 and will last until the 31st of August this year. From the 17th of March 2025, the works will also affect the junction of Highway M35 and Main Road 354, with the closure of several road branches.
MKIF PLC has informed the Mayor’s Office of the Municipality of Debrecen about the following in connection with the levelling works on Highway M35 at Main Road 354:
The current traffic restriction was built on the right lane of Main Road 354, with a two-way diversion with traffic lights.
On Main Road 354, the levelling intervention will occur between the 2+950 – 3+500 km sections.
The right lane of Main Road 354 will be closed entirely between kilometre sections 2+950-3+500.
Traffic on the right lane of Main Road 354 will be diverted to the left lane via the service crossing at kilometre section 3+000. On the left lane, traffic will travel on a 1+1 lane between kilometre sections 3+000-3+380.
Since Main Road 354 will only have 2×1 traffic lanes at the end of the diversion, alternating traffic control with traffic lights has been introduced between kilometre sections 3+380-3+690.
During the intervention, the renovation will be carried out with the following technical content:
- replacement of the wearing course across the entire width of the roadway
- replacement of the binding course if technically necessary
- arrangement of the curbs
- adjustment of the guardrail
- painting of new pavement markings
The construction and traffic diversion schedule will be implemented between the 18th of March and the 27th of March, 2025.
Drivers there should expect increased travel times.
