Students of the Debrecen School District Centre won more than 300 international, 1135 national and 915 county competitions last year alone.
Last year, more than a fifth of the students of the Debrecen School District Centre received an excellent report card. According to the aggregated data, more than twenty primary schools had an average grade point average of over 4, while the average grade point average for secondary schools was 4.34.
The 2024/25 Director’s Opening Ceremony was held at the 75-year-old Petőfi Sándor Primary School and School of Basic Arts.
Around 2000 teachers provide quality education for nearly 20,000 students in Debrecen’s institutions. László Türk, Director of the Debrecen School Centre , said in his welcome speech that the schools had won the trust of parents thanks to the excellent teachers.
“School is about the child and the teacher, about education and upbringing. School is the place where parents leave their children with peace of mind and confidence,” he said.
Mayor of Debrecen László Papp thanked the teachers for their work. At the opening ceremony, a number of jubilee and retiring teachers were awarded Ministerial Certificates of Appreciation and the Teachers’ Service Medal.
The opening of the school year in the city will take place on Sunday, 1 September at Epreskeri Primary School.
