Minister of National Economy of Hungary meets CEO of BMW Group Plant Debrecen

The Minister of National Economy , Márton Nagy commenting the joint Facebook photo with Chairman and CEO of BMW Group Plant Debrecen, Hans-Peter Kemser, wrote “The new factory is being built, opening in the fall.” The minister is certainly referring to the official opening, also known as the handover.

Márton Nagy has previously spoken several times about the government’s expectation that the performance of the Hungarian economy will improve with the launch of the BMW factory in Debrecen.

Last week, it became official that the car very similar to the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X study car, presented last year, will be produced for the first time at the BMW factory in Debrecen. The brand-new, SUV-like, premium mid-range model built on an electric architecture has been named the BMW iX3, according to the announcement by Oliver Zipse, CEO of the BMW Group.

At a media event held on the occasion of BMW’s annual financial report, Oliver Zipse also announced that the model’s test vehicles have been produced at the Debrecen plant since the end of 2024, and that series production will start this year.

As stated, the BMW iX3 will be presented at the Munich Motor Show in early September.

More than two thousand people already work at the BMW plant in Debrecen,

A constantly updated list of currently open positions and the application interface can be found at https://www.bmwgroup.jobs/hu/hu.html. Applicants are currently being invited to 58 positions.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that Oliver Zipse met Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao in Beijing. The Chinese are now lobbying for Europe and China to set an example, unlike the US, which is introducing tariffs, and not punishing each other with tariffs.
