Munkácsy’s masterpieces illuminated in Debrecen
For thirty years, all three monumental works of Mihály Munkácsy’s Christ Trilogy have been on display at the Déri Museum in Debrecen.
To mark this anniversary, the museum is offering a spectacular and unconventional way to experience these masterpieces: a musical light show set within the Munkácsy Hall.
Blending art and technology in a striking public program, the event promises a unique sensory journey through Munkácsy’s iconic paintings — Christ Before Pilate, Golgotha, and Ecce Homo. The immersive presentation highlights the emotional depth and biblical narrative of each canvas, casting new light on their enduring power.
The special event will take place on Saturday, August 30, at 4:00 PM, inside the Déri Museum.
In addition to the anniversary show, the museum offers regular guided tours enhanced with the light installation every Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 PM. These tours provide a compelling way to explore the trilogy’s spiritual themes and artistic significance.
