Universal Air announced on its Facebook page that it will launch scheduled flights from Debrecen to Malta and Leipzig in Germany from the 30th of  March, the flights will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. Bookings for the flights will be available on this page.

Currently travellers can fly from Debrecen to London with Wizz Air and to Munich with Lufthansa. It has recently been announced that the German airline will fly five times a week between Debrecen and Munich from April instead of three times a week. Wizz Air will soon re-launch its service to Cyprus. 

In the summer, there will also be charter flights to Barcelona in Spain, Tirana in Albania, Antalya in Turkey, Monastir in Tunisia and Heraklion on the island of Crete in Greece.

Israel’s Israir is also scheduled to launch a Debrecen-Tel-Aviv flight in May.

The Hungarian subsidiary of the Czech Smartwings group has added two new destinations from Debrecen to its 2025 summer schedule. Between the beginning of June and the end of September, there will be one flight a week to Barcelona and one to Tirana.

At a press conference in Budapest last week, Jason McGuinness, Ryanair’s commercial director, said “The airline’s long-term plans now include not only Budapest, but also Debrecen and Lake Balaton.”
