No fire occurred at SEMCORP’s plant in Debrecen

According to the information provided by the Hajdú-Bihar County Directorate for Disaster Management, no fire occurred at the Debrecen facility of Semcorp Hungary Kft., contrary to all rumors suggesting otherwise.

A technological pipeline was damaged, from which steam escaped, triggering the fire suppression system and enabling it to perform the function it would have carried out in the event of a fire.

No personal injuries occurred during the incident, and no hazardous or chemical substances were released into the environment.

In situations like this, objective and verified communication is essential. The Municipality of Debrecen therefore calls on anyone who spreads unconfirmed or deliberately misleading information for political or sensationalist purposes: do not endanger people’s sense of safety.

No fire occurred; however, the incident was immediately treated as a confirmed fact on social media, without waiting for the official information from disaster management authorities.

The Municipality of Debrecen encourages everyone to share information responsibly, using only factual and verified sources, so that the community’s sense of safety remains protected.
