One of the partner schools of BMW Group Plant Debrecen is being expanded
One of the partner schools of the BMW factory in Debrecen is being expanded with a nearly 600 square meter building. There is huge competition for the expansion of the Debrecen school.
The participation phase of the Ministry of Construction and Transport’s public procurement procedure for the renovation and expansion of the Beregszászi Pál Technical School building of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center was successful.
Eleven companies applied for the renovation work, two of which did not meet the conditions, while the other nine (TÁRS-95 Acélszerkezet és Gépgyártó Építőipari Kereskedelmi Kft., Hunép Építőipari Zrt., LATEREX Építő Zrt., EB HUNGARY INVEST Kft., KEVIÉP Építőipari és Kereskedelmi Kft., TÖMB 2002 Szolgáltató Kft., DENCO Klímatechnikai Szolgáltató és Kereskedelmi Kft., KE-VÍZ 21 Építőipari Zrt., and Magyar Építő Zrt.) were invited to submit bids by the ministry.
The tender documentation reminds that the Beregszászi Pál Technical School and Dormitory is located in the building complex at 17 Jerikó Street, the energy modernization of which was completed in January 2020, so the aim of the current development is to expand the institution with workshops and to renovate and modernize the interior of the existing building.
The winning company will be tasked with developing two new workshops (with high ceilings and parking facilities). The planned useful floor area of the extension will be 578 square meters, and a toilet and changing room block will also need to be created for the new workshops, as well as new classrooms. The new structure will be a continuation of the structural system of the existing building.
The ministry received a precisely defined room program from the institution regarding the transformation of the existing building. In most of the classrooms, the floor coverings and windows will be replaced, and the equipment will be adapted to the new function. The planned renovation will affect the corridors, staircases, sanitary blocks, swimming pool changing rooms, water engineering, gym changing rooms, and the auditorium, and the buffet in the restaurant will also be expanded. New parking spaces will also be created, one of which will be equipped with an electric charging facility.
In order to establish the Debrecen Automotive Center, three Debrecen secondary schools would be developed (all three participate in BMW’s dual training program), and Mayor Laszló Papp and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recently agreed on the provision of the necessary state funds for this.
Mechwart András Engineering and Information Technology Technical School to get a new dormitory
The Mechwart András Engineering and Information Technology Technical School located on Külsővásártér is planned to be expanded with a new dormitory, which will have 252 beds and 126 dormitory rooms.
The underground garage planned for the basement level of the dormitory and the ground-floor utility entrance will be accessible from the backyard, from the neighboring plot, and from the back garden side of the building.
The new dormitory will be five-story (basement, ground floor, and 4 upper floors), with a usable floor area of 9,505 square meters. It will include several teacher rooms, a 54-seat lecture hall, and two elevators.
The public procurement for the development is currently underway, and the participation phase has not yet been completed.
Brassai Sámuel Technical School is also to be renovated and expanded
As in the case of Beregszászi Pál Technical School, the first stage of the public procurement process launched by the Ministry of Construction and Transport for the renovation and expansion of the Brassai Sámuel Technical School building of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center has been completed.
Twelve companies expressed their intention to participate in the project, and eleven were invited to submit a bid.
According to the tender documentation, the task will be to expand the building at 3 Víztorony Street. During the construction, the existing building will also have to be renovated (creating a larger teacher’s room, rationalizing office space, expanding the canteen space at the expense of the kitchen, and eliminating the existing staircase), and new workshops and several theoretical and language classrooms will have to be created in the new part of the building based on the modified local building regulations. The new building will replace the workshops of the building to be demolished, and a gym will be built in place of the existing sports field.
