Widespread Parking Ban Due to Debrecen Marathon
On Sunday, 29 March, a large-scale street running festival will be held in Debrecen, with more than 2,600 registered participants and several hundred additional visitors expected.
To ensure the safe organisation of the Debrecen Marathon 2026, stopping and parking will be prohibited from 6:00 p.m. on 27 March until approximately 3:00 p.m. on 29 March. This restriction is enforced by road signs indicating “no stopping” and “no waiting”, supplemented with notices regarding vehicle removal.
In accordance with the Hungarian Highway Code (KRESZ), stopping and waiting will also be prohibited on road shoulders. During this period, marked parking bays along the affected routes will temporarily function as road shoulders, meaning parking will not be permitted even in designated spaces.
The restrictions apply to the following parking areas operated by DV Parking:
- Hatvan Street, between Kossuth Square and Bethlen Street
- Bethlen Street (from Hatvan Street to Hunyadi Street), Hunyadi Street (from Péterfia Street to Bethlen Street), and Mester Street (from Csemete Street to Bethlen Street)
- University Avenue (between Honvéd Street and Füredi Road, and between Füredi Road and University Square)
- Nagyerdei Boulevard (between University Square and Simonyi Road, and between University Square and the Pallagi Road roundabout)
- The full length of Ady Endre Road on both sides, including road shoulders
- Pallagi Road, between Pope John Paul II Square and the Pallagi Road roundabout
Drivers are advised to pay close attention to temporary signage to avoid fines or vehicle removal during the event period.
