Plans for a new Speedway Stadium in Debrecen
The evaluation and review of Debrecen’s development programme was also a topic at the Debrecen general assembly meeting. One of the points was that they plan to build a new Speedway stadium in Debrecen.
The Perényi Pál Speedway Stadium on Gázvezet Street was built 55 years ago, the first race was held in 1971.
Gázvezet Street has since been largely built up, and a residential park has been developed opposite the stadium, which makes parking at the stadium difficult during races, and according to László Papp, the sound of the motors also disturbs residents.
Their plan is to build the stadium in the Southern Economic Zone, close to the airport, where they would not disturb anyone.
László Papp added that a residential area that fits the environment could be developed in the area of the current stadium.
