The Municipality of Debrecen informs the public and businesses concerned that the development of the utility infrastructure in the Southern Economic Zone will be carried out in full compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and environmental regulations.
The investments will be carried out in close coordination with the availability of government funding for the development of the Southern Economic Zone and the obtaining of the necessary permits.
The Municipality of Debrecen is implementing all investments related to the development of the industrial zone in a planned and scheduled manner.
The construction of the grey water network and the development of the separate industrial wastewater treatment plant at the Debrecen wastewater treatment plant are progressing according to schedule.
The commencement of these permitting and construction works could only occur after discussions with the greywater users.
The final details of the greywater technology—the greywater composition and the related needs—were finalised with CATL in January 2025, which allowed for the finalisation of the required wastewater treatment technology, the design concept, and the final call for tenders.
It is encouraging to see that more and more industrial players are committing to using grey water. With this solution, Debrecen is implementing one of the country’s most significant environmental protection programmes, contributing to the protection of water resources and sustainable industrial development.
Please note that obtaining permits for the use of industrial facilities is the sole responsibility and obligation of the companies concerned. This is conditional on the construction activities being carried out in compliance with the various regulatory requirements and full respect of the conditions imposed by the utility companies.
Industrial developments in Debrecen must comply with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
